july 28, 2007 courtesy call to dr. melanio austria, principal




3:00 to 6:00 pm: courtesy call to the principal Dr. Melanio Austria held at the school's Audio Visual Room (AVR).

present were:

77 - Susan Sarmiento, 78 - Tess Carcellar-Galapon, Lulu Calaminos-Canlapan, 79 - Uly de Guzman, Tommy Testor, Erl Pabellon, Joy Velasco 80 - Danny Queri, 81 - Bonette Valdez-Cruzada, Jerry Diccion, Nick Parayno, 82 - Juditha Lorenzo-Pescador, 84 - Dong Calmada

Faculty in attendance were Mel Austria-Principal, Ms Aguirre, Ms Nora Besabe-Vega

Nito and Macky didn't make it on time because of their work scheds and the downpour stuck them in traffic.

Dr. Austria's primary aim: to put MRHS to at least in the top 10 slot of best schools in district 4. MRHS ranks 34th out of 46 public high schools in Quezon City.

saddened by the fact that out of the 1590 students 30% are rejects of other schools. MRHS has slow learners, slow readers (or non readers at all), slow in comprehension

training needs assesments: are needed for both mentor and students. Tomas Testor will spearhead the program and submit proposal to Dr. Austria.

computer training: computers will be put into use (donated by ayala group sometime ago, internet connnnections are also available, sponsored by QC government).

trailblazer: Dr. Austria wants to put this into the limelight again. Trailblazer headship were assigned to a younger teacher. Tess C. (78), to follow up Lorenzo Ziga for the training of the MRHS organ staffers. Ms. Aguirre and Dr. Austria invited me if I could talk to the current Trailblazer staff for encouragement. I agreed but the event didn't take place.

renovated library: books are also requested, if you have books you want to donate please do so. I committed to donate books. If you have something to contribute, please let me know.

donations - deed of donation will be carried out, to properly account all gifts. previous donations (benches, driking fountain, sound systems) will be checked and will prepare necessary papers.

feeding program/scholarship: school has a feeding program. limited tho' but the association will carry out a project smilar to this. at present benefactors are identified only by Ms Besabe-Vega. it was requested that criteria must be drafted for proper guidelines. there were issues considered here.

school needs: Mr. Austria suggested that repair works of the school be offered to an Alumni. instead of hiring services from non-alumni it will be better if an alumni will carry out task. their work will be compensated.

vocational training: Trainors/speakers are needed on the following area; Computers, Automotive, Plumbing, Electrical, Welding, Masonry, Woodworks, Painting, Carpentry etc., arts also, Sign, Dance, Music, Ating, Sill life etc. sports; basketball, volleyball, badminton, sepak, track and field, etc....

MRHS Association: names and pictures of Alumni officers to be submitted to Dr. Austria to be published in the Trailblazer

website will be relocated to a paid domain (sponsors needed). a main web site will inter connect websites of all batches, if any. we created a committee for this. bonette will maintain the site.

will file non-vat requirement to BIR and request permit to print receipts.

funds on hand: Php 12,850.00 (in bank). awaiting more support.
